I need to start a debt management plan and was told I had to get a new basic bank account, I have a basic account, do I need a new one?

Answer:  As long as the bank you have your basic account with is in no way to be included or a part of your debt management plan, it should be OK.

If you owe them any money, then it will be an issue.

In most instances when someone begins a debt management plan, they are told to open a new basic account with a neutral bank, one that you do not owe money to or have any previous dealings with.
