I have 5K of debt and am paying it through a debt management plan, but this is taking me a long time to pay and want to just go bankrupt and be done with it.

Answer: You could go bankrupt and be done with it, or you may want to look into a Debt Relief Order.

How much are your monthly payments to the DMP?

I know it can seem like it takes time to pay the debts off, but if you are paying say £100 a month and your creditors have frozen the accounts, you could be debt free in 50 months or so, which is just over four (4) years.  It may sound like a long time, but for many people avoiding bankruptcy is something they want or need to do and if they are to go bankrupt, they are bankrupt for 12 months and could be required to pay into the bankruptcy for three (3) years.
